Why Angels, Aliens and Gods Do Not Exist

I feel the same way about extraterrestrial aliens visiting Earth as I do about angels and gods. If they exist and are good guys, they would be helping us. If they exist and are bad guys they would be screwing with us.

It could be that they are just observing us, in which case, screw them, they are bad guys. If they are paying attention to what’s going on on planet earth, they are a sorry race for not helping. Come on, give us a bone here.

It could be that they are screwing with us on a monstrous scale and we are not aware of it. If this were true, there would not be such an anarchistic society and Earth would be living by the alien plan. If they could control the planet, they would control the planet. Maximum production would depend on a stable united society.

It could be that we are some sort of grand planetary societal experiment, in which case, screw them, they are bad guys. Their experiment sucks and is putting unnecessary and cruel hardship on sapient creatures. It is not possible for an advanced society to let a planet exist in such misery, sheesh, even some lowly humans have recognized the ethical treatment of creatures of lesser intelligence.

Of course it could be that there are no angels, aliens or gods. This would go a long way explaining the situation we find ourselves in, here on planet Earth.

As you can see, the inaction in every scenario significantly indicates that angels, aliens and gods do not exist.

Unfortunately, this also means that if there are angels, aliens and gods, they are the bad guys.

When did I realize I was God? Well, I was praying and I suddenly realized I was talking to myself. ~ Peter O'Toole, 'The Ruling Class'

to quote the late great George Carlin:

"So, if there is a God, I think most reasonable people might agree that he's at least incompetent, and maybe, just maybe, doesn't give a shit."

It is a matter of context. If you believe in God, then you would have no problem admitting that human beings are not qualified to pass judgment on the Creator, because we have no context and very little knowledge. Dying and going to Heaven is heaven, which is what believers may think. Dying and becoming ashes would stink, which is what you are implying.

I've opined on the matter at my blog: http://911liarsexposed.blogspot.com/2008/06/just-finish-bloody-thing-already.html - having said that, I don't wish to simply discount the possibility of their existence, but as a scientist, I tend to not believe in things that cannot be proven to exist.

But my mind is open to possibilities...

An advanced race doesn't have to be morally or ethically advanced -- just technologically so in order to travel through space.

Look how much further advanced we are technologically than apes or any other animals. We have no qualms about using them for sport killing, medical experiments and the like. We also don't care to use other human beings that way either -- slavery, Nazi medical experiments, etc come to mind. Yes, there are many who have a higher regard for life -- but generally not those in power.

Science is a god to many these days. Yet scientists are often the least inclined to take into consideration the moral or ethical dilemmas that many areas of research poses. Human cloning is a prime example.

I have no idea whether aliens, angels or gods exist. I have not seen any strong proof that they do -- but the absence of proof is not the same thing as proof that they do not exist. So I don't feel confident in choosing either side of the debate. I think you make a very good argument that they are not beings to be worshipped if they do exist -- but it isn't a strong enough argument, IMO, to convince me that they don't exist. But perhaps I took the title a little too literally since it seems that you are arguing more against the worship/admiration of such entities (since the likelihood of them being benevolent is very slim) and not solely on the existence of such.

Great question to pose, thank you! Here's my 2 cents:

The only misery, unnecessary hardships and "antichristic" conditions here on earth are a result of our own ignorance, greed and confusion. If indeed gods, angels and/or aliens do exist, these troubles are not their fault and they should have no obligation to "fix" us. If they do, there is no growth toward human maturity available for us, for we would continue to be the puer aeternus (eternal child) and a spoiled one at that. The Ancients of the old Mystery tradition, as well as all the prophets, seers, philosophers, and enlightened thinkers etc. along the way have consistently shown that there is a plan and process for better living, and it is up to us to figure it out, not just intellectually, but in our daily conduct - in the manner in which we treat the earth, each other and ourselves. Life is a DIY project and we should not rely on celestial foreign aid to rescue us from our own ridiculous and disastrous dilemma - instead, we can lean on the greatest thinkers and teachers across time and cultures and work toward our own salvation. BTW, here's another thing to consider...maybe "they" are here and are "helping" us, and while it may seem like the world is still in trouble, maybe things would be a lot worse (yes things can get worse) without such assistance...just a thought, but thanks again for a great discussion.

Yes, in reality this doesn' prove the non existence of angels, aliens and gods, it it only a strong indication.

But at the least it shows that they seem to have no interest in us and hoping for them to help us out is a long shot with a misaligned scope.

dreamslaughter said...

@ chris:

It could be that they are secretly helping us out, but gods would be excluded since they by definition can affect things enough to help. With god powers the help would be obvious.

If good aliens were trying to help us out with no resistence, things would be better.

On the other hand, if good aliens were trying to help us out against bad aliens, it would seem the consequences of their battle would overflow into public awareness.

'Nothing' exists as a concept, but as a tangible physical entity, I don't think so. Same with gods, the concept exits, but I doubt they exist as tanigible entities.

Aliens have a better chance of existing if for nothing else there are so many earthlike planets out there.

I voted "other", because I have no idea. Neither does anyone else.

Other life forms probably exist in the universe, and any communication from them at this point would be greatly appreciated. If not for us, for our heirs.

Sure, I see your point, but somehow I think it might be the case that your comfort zone is in a position to see and do some good. There are many that do not have that opportunity. Some people’s comfort zone includes watching their children starve to death. Some have the reality of watching their children and loved ones blown to bits.

The problem is that the little children that starve or are blown to bits may have resulted because of a direct consequence of the existence of your comfort zone. I’m sure that the Nazis had bake sales, heroic firemen, kindly teachers, doctors that wanted to do good; but that does not release us from the responsibility to recognize that wretched miserable conditions exist and try to do something.

You are starting to sound like the aliens that are observing the Earth and not helping.

‘Civil disobedience, that’s not our problem. Our problem is that people are obedient all over the world in the face of poverty and starvation and stupidity, and war, and cruelty. Our problem is that people are obedient while the jails are full of petty thieves, and all the while the grand thieves are running the country. That's our problem.’ ~ Howard Zinn

At least once a day I observe proof that there is no god, or at least proof that the Jewish/Christian god does not exist as claimed.

The Jewish/Christian god is supposed to be Omniscient and Omnipotent. If it knows everything, it would know that feces can be a hygienic problem, not to mention disgusting.

If it can do anything, it could create creatures that don't need to defecate and an earth that doesn't need fertilizer in the form of feces to help plants grow.

If it did feel that feces was necessary for some reason, why did it feel the need to put the anus in a place where it is both difficult to clean and impossible to visually check for cleanliness?

The existence of feces and a hard to reach anus is therefore proof that either:

1) There is no god, or
2) God is not as powerful and/or all-knowing as is claimed, or
3) God is a sadistic pervert.

We don't know if they are helping or not. There is a lot of good going on, it is just hard to find. But humans exist and are we helping the animals escape from the horrors we subject them to? Our army uses live pigs for target practice, our navy uses sonar on their subs that cause whales and dolphins and other marine life to suffer horribly and die, our corporations and universities and military do gruesome experiments on live animals - so with your logic the animals would think all humans suck since we are aware of their pain and suffering and sit idly by watching and doing nothing to help them. Look at the horrors of slaughterhouses, where the cows and pigs are still alive when being cut opened or dumped into boiling vats of water, where chickens are maimed and kicked before slaughter, yet I am sure most of you eat the meat from those slaughterhouses therefore continuing to give your money to the people responsible for the horrors put upon the innocent animals. Why should the aliens help us when we don't even help the animals on our Earth that are suffering horrors.

God is just huge stack of writings. Layers and layers of writings. And this stack grows indefinitively. The question of what existed just before the first writing has no sense. There cannot be any reading before the first writing. If anybod pretends hear or see God "in his head", a reading from thin air, just call him a liar or a crazy guy. Nothing comes from nothing.

Sometimes the best help you can give someone is to not interfere and let them learn from their own mistakes.

Does anyone remember Star Trek's Prime Directive. It was the death penalty for interfering in any other culture, especially cultures that were lesser developed that their own. We would appear as Gods to some cultures and then a "religion" would be created in own name that would always be misused. If any beings have the technology to get here then they surely know contact would be destructive to our culture and the natural evolution of the human race. The bad aliens would infiltrate and slowly advance our knowledge so as we could better serve them with useful devices, DNA and natural resouces. They would at first operate through secret deals with our government and in time would literally run our major governments. Like right now.

As a scientist, I tend to not believe in things that can be proven not to exist. Anything else is possible -- and few if any can be "proven" to "exist".

Alien visitors may be unlikely, but there is nothing inherently impossible about them.

The terms "angel" and "god" can be defined in ways that make them impossible, and in ways that make them possible. Wars have been fought out of the confusion of such definitions.

"If they are paying attention to what’s going on on planet earth, they are a sorry race for not helping."

The only problem with your argument is that it's completely subjective.
Who are they not helping? You? Do you know for a fact that they aren't helping, or does it just seem that way?

I submit that I am being helped all the time, but since that too is completely subjective, I further submit that we are all being helped.

The argument is long and exhausting, but I will include just a few points that suggest that we, the little people, are being assisted by "other" forces:

1.) We are still alive. (That is a biggie, not just on the face of it, but upon closer inspection, too.)

2.) We still have a chance. (Yes we do. In the age of Big Brother and the New-Old Fascists, it's something like a miracle that we are still able to communicate with one another. Isn't it? Just tell me that it isn't and I'll go away.)

3.) The curtains have been opening steadily for the past 15 years. (Deny it and you are a liar. Fact is, we all know far more about the way of things than we did in, say, 1993.)

There are many more points-- add yor own-- but I am eight minutes late for work.

Yours is a good post, however. Even fervent belief requires a good jolt of skepticism now and then to keep us honest. (Deep down, you do believe in wonderful things. A true atheist wouldn't even have bothered making your argument.)

Good job. Now let's move on to the big stuff....

I don't get this. When a cat is trapped in a tree, the fire department is mobilized and there is a massive effort to get it down. There are videos of people doing the most insane things to save an animal or a human. There is an aspect of humanity that wants to help the needy.

If you look through history, mankind has progressed quite a bit, and it will continue to progress. Humanity is a lot better off than we were in the Dark Ages or The Roman Empire, Holy or not. If a planet has advanced to the point of advanced technology, their social responsibility would be greater than ours.

On an individual basis, almost everybody wants to take action when they see an animal or human in distress.

Remember in Star Trek when Kirk arrived at a planet and saw something bad going on? Remember how Kirk figured out a way to solve the problem by getting around the prime directive. Remember how often the prime directive has been broken? Remember how Kirk, Chekov, Sulu and Soctty dealt with “Kobayashi Maru” Problem?

If there are bad aliens as well as the good guys, the good guys would be resisting the bad guys. Unless the bad guys are really the good guys, then it would be the other way around.

I agree with most of what you say. You were not specific about where the help is coming from, aliens or gods; so I am at a bit of a loss.

If you mean gods are helping us, I don’t think so. In fact most religious dogma is twisted, brutal and without mercy.

If you mean aliens, please, if they are flying around the galaxy, they have the ability of make some serious changes on Earth, good or bad. If they are helping as you say, then why the coy approach?

Maybe it's just tough love. We are an arrogant race of apes. Perhaps when we are really on our knees, then they
will come down and give us a hand. We'll be less likely to start shooting at them then. Also we will be more likely to accept the fact that our formerly sovereign planet is
now part of a Galactic Federation.
Finally, they may come sooner if those of us who still have full stomachs reach out to those who do not and share with them. That might be all that it takes to pass the test. If we do not, they might just let us tear each other to shreds until we finally learn our lesson.

All the people that have suffered and died...if you dont have information from the source of the Creator, it all seems so bizarre. Opression is a blessing otherwise the alternative is anarchy. We are reminded of our dead, yet they are in a better place. We see their remains in horror, while they were taken from where they came and raised up in ranks for their patience. Read the Quran, the LITERAL word of God. Unless you're brainwashed too, and think Islam is terrorism.

Nothing on earth is created in vain, but rather with wisdom. Understanding this fact depends on the wisdom of people themselves. One whose faith and consequently whose wisdom and prudence increase, will happen to grasp this reasoning much better in time.

One of the most important precepts is that we are being tested throughout our whole lives. God tests our sincerity and our faith on different occasions. He may give favours to test whether we are grateful to Him or not. He may create difficulties, for us, to reveal whether we behave with patience or not.......even the best things in life and have abundance of wealth and happiness is a severe test, as it causes man to forget his Creator when is in comfort...:
“Every soul shall have a taste of death: and We test you by evil and by good by way of trial. To Us you will be returned.” (Surat al-Anbiya, 21:35) the holy Quran

Qur’an in the verse below:
“Be sure we shall test you with fear and hunger, someloss in goods or lives or the fruits (of your toil), but give glad tidings to those who patiently persevere.” (Surat al-Baqara, 2:155)
The most important point to comprehend is that all of these deprivations and misadventures are created by Allah as a special kind of test. One who does not understand this will become very superficial.

I've always thought those who announce to the world to be an atheist means they are singing the song of self-indulgent self pity.
What sets atheists off anyway?

A traumatic event in ones life?

I don't believe the stories of America being a free country, but I don't see how being peevish to people in person would change that.

You have to become more aggressive in your presentation, or otherwise you're simply coming off as a whiner. Communism held the same belief, but I still can't understand why they had to kill millions of people and take away free will?

It's hard to see the bright side to it all. But if there is no hell, Game Over. You can't lose what you never had.

And if there is such a place, it sounds like lost souls will have a terrible time going over the simple mistake of resenting forgiveness.

When you write something as amazing as this, you ought to sign your name to it so that people will know where to point when they laugh.

I won't go into all the reasons why our digestive system is not as horrible as you make it out to be, but I will list a few items (because it amuses me):

- God could have made feces pleasantly aromatic and tasty, but then there would be trouble because people would be eating it all the time.
- That feces seems disgusting and horrible is a learned trait based on good sense. To an objective, outside observer it is no more foul than pollen, semen or butter.
- If you could have your asshole relocated to any place other than where it is now, where would you put it? Would you have it converted to a sliding receptacle on your stomach that you could empty by simply sidling up to the waste basket in the food court? (I actually know a guy who has something like this, and he's not pleased about it.)
- Your own feces is not terribly harmful to yourself. (Try a spoonful. I bet you'll be okay.) Likewise, in small tribes where people share foods and contagions as a unit, the output is virtually the same.
- The toilet is the biggest contributor to the cleanliness problem. If you were to squat in the forest (or the sand) with your glutes stretched taut and far apart, and with your sphincter nicely protruding, you'd have virtually nothing to wipe. try this sometime. I recommend it. (You must step completely out of your trousers to perform this most effectively.)
- The preponderence of anal porn, homosexual activity, and "2 girls, 1 cup" suggests to me that humans are losing their aversion to feces. I certainly wish I could lose mine. I don't even like being in the bathroom with myself.

Its our fault not his. What would life be like if he just fixed everything? It would be worse, people would kill others knowing that God would just fix it. Stop being so ignorant and self-absorbed and think for once. Next time blame yourself for your own problems not God cause he doesn't fix them.
